Today is contest day!

This week visited Delaware, Pennsylvania, Nevada, Wyoming, West Virginia and Louisiana.

Tera stopped by on Tuesday to give us some inside information on the Erie area. Be sure to check that out. Tera and Treye are making their way to matrimonial bliss tomorrow and I know we all wish them well.

But, before everyone takes off for the wedding, all passengers from the above mentioned states should report to their appropriate decks and tell us what makes your state the Taste of USA!

Up next week is Florida, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, South Carolina and Wisconsin.

What Happens in Vegas,

Stays in Vegas!

Welcome to Nevada! I have actually been to Nevada a few times. Yay me. Just across the Utah border is a little town that is just a speck in the road called Windover, NV. It's where you go for a quick gambling trip if you live in Utah. Then, I've been to Vegas a couple of times, too. I'm not much of a gambler so... but I still love all the sites and sounds. Nevada has to be best known for Las Vegas so let's start there!

(That's me under the sign of a restaurant. It's important because Pearl is my best friend's nickname)

Las Vegas is home of gambling, entertainment, the wedding chapel and the party pools! Staying up, partying all night. It is completely possible to lose all track of time while in a casino. I went to the Venetian and the ceiling was painted like the sky and it was lit to copy daylight. Flashing lights and ringing bells, money clanking and ice chinking in glasses. Las Vegas is a place like no other! Where else can you get married with Elvis as the minister? He lives I tell you!

But wait! There's more gambling, shopping, and entertainment in Reno. Reno is located on the west side of Nevada and is just a short drive into California. Lake Tahoe splits the two states and is just a short drive away so we can put on the ski boots and hit the slopes.

Take a drive 40 minutes south of Reno and we will find Virginia City, NV. It is a little town that is kept looking just like it did back in the silver and gold rush days. One of Nevada's nicknames is the Silver State. And that's what brought people to Virginia City in 1859. The Comstock Lode was discovered and people flocked to Nevada to make their fortunes.

Last stop today is Lovelock, NV. Tera and Treye, cancel those wedding plans and come to Lovelock. The adopted Chinese tradition is to symbolically lock your love together with locks on a never-ending chain and throw away the keys so your love will always be locked together. Well, I guess you don't have to get married there. You can always do it later. Even you married folks can still take a trip to Lovelock and participate in the ceremony.

I've started you with places in Nevada. Where is your favorite thing or place about Nevada?

Fun facts for Nevada are
the state fish is the Lohanton Cutthroat Trout,

the state flower is Sagebrsh,

and the state bird is the Mountain Blue Bird.

All Nevadans meet on the Silver Deck on Friday, July 11th to tell us what makes Nevada the Taste of USA!
