Welcome to the Sunshine State!

From Pensacola to Jacksonville down to Orlando and to the most southern point in the USA to Key West, Florida is full of beaches, golf courses, theme parks and loads of sunshine for the millions and millions of visitors that come there to vacation. There are certainly many places to choose!

Florida
was discovered by Ponce de Leon in 1513 and was the 27th state to be admitted to the union. So many places to see and do. Let's get started.

Starting in Pensacola and one of the coolest places is the National Naval Aviation Museum. Learn about the history of aviation, see up close some very cool airplanes and the Blue Angels perform in the area as well. There's also an IMAX theater that features amazing films. It's a dream come true for future pilots and my boys loved it. They are pictured below... Captain Drew and Captain JB.

Other things to do in Pensacola include a zoo, tons of great shopping, tons of water adventures that include fishing and sailing, and oh, so much more. We have a lot more to see so let's head east.

In Jacksonville, we'll find another zoo, or we can headed over to Atlantic Beach to build sand castles or camping at Little Talbot Island State park. For the NFL fans living in Florida must be great because you have the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to choose from. Who are you cheering for Florida?

Travelling south to Orlando and the most magical place on earth, Disney World where Magic Kingdom, the Epcot Center, and Disney Hollywood Studios are a slice of FUN. And don't forget Sea World Orlando. I don't think I've mentioned them all yet. Exactly how many days do you need to experience all of these parks? Does anyone know how many theme parks are in Orlando? Orlando has certainly captured the essence of family fun.

Our last stop in Florida and the most southern point in the US is the fun filled Key West! I love this town. When I went, we rented mopeds and zipped all over the area. There are lots of fun bars, beaches and yummy, fresh seafood! There was a street festival when we were there with the best Cuban street food and the craziest people ever! They were having fun to say the least. Sunset cruises, deep sea fishing, snorkeling, diving! Stop by the Hemingway Home in Museum. July is the annual Hemingway Days Festival where they have a look-alike contest! Wow, lots of men look like Hemingway!

What's you're favorite part of Florida? There are a lot of areas I didn't cover so you tell us what you love about Florida.

Fun facts for Florida are: the state tree is the Sabal Palmetto Palm, the state bird is the Mockingbird and the state flower is the Orange Blossom. Yum! Fresh Florida Oranges!

All Floridians report to the Disney Deck on Friday, July 18th to tell us what makes Florida the Taste of USA!
